Challenges & Solutions
Upon Hard Rocks' takeover and acquisition of the mine, the management immediately initiated the rehabilitation of the mine. This rehab period took 2 years.
The Problem
Pits were found flooded and drowned, with the main pit collapsed due to previous poor planning. Main pit (290×310×80m) held 5 million cubic meters of water requiring pumping.
Equipment
Purchased the correct type of pumps in terms of size and capacity to pump and dewater the drowned pits effectively.
Infrastructure
Built protection dams upstream to divert rainwater floods from the pit. Constructed water channels for diverting rainwater away from operations.
